Funding

SEMLEP is responsible for securing and overseeing the spend of two main sources of growth funding for the South East Midlands: The Local Growth Fund (Growth Deal) and European Funding. Through our Growth Hubs, we provide advice and information on access to finance and grant programmes to support businesses wanting to invest, innovate, expand and grow local jobs.

 

The Government awarded a total of £265million to the South East Midlands SEMLEP area from 2015 to 2021 for capital projects to support growth. The Local Growth Fund is investing in 50+ projects that increase jobs, learner numbers, or opens up land for employment space or homes.

The South East Midlands was allocated £117million* from the 2014-20 European Structural Investment Fund (ESIF) Growth Programme. This programme invests in projects that promote growth, jobs and social inclusion. It comprises European Regional Development Fund, European Social Fund and European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development.

Fund

In 2012, SEMLEP was allocated £18.7 million to provide loans in response to competitive bids from public and private sector bodies to invest in infrastructure to deliver growth. With the integration with NEP, SEMLEP has taken responsibility for NEP's GPF allocation of £5.8m.

Regional Growth
Fund

SEMLEP secured £1.75m from the Regional Growth Fund to develop and deliver business support, including grants for through Velocity Growth Hub. SEMLEP also manages NEP legacy high-performance technology RGF programme, 54 projects were supported with £2.1million. This funding stream is now closed.
